Seeding Built Around Dry Summers and Wet Winters

Hydroseeding Sacramento sprays new lawns, stabilizes slopes and bare construction ground, installs silt fence and sediment control, does yard grading and topsoil work, and repairs and overseeds thin lawns across Sacramento and the towns around it, from the valley floor out to the foothills.

The work here is shaped by a few plain facts. Sacramento gets about 18 inches of rain a year, and nearly all of it falls from November through April. Summers are long, hot and almost cloudless, with dozens of 90-degree days. Across much of the eastern valley the soil is a brown loam over dense clay and a cemented hardpan, which drains slowly and sheds water fast once it is wet. A seeding plan that ignores any of that tends to fail in the first July or the first big storm.

We do not pretend one mix or one schedule fits every lot. A shaded midtown backyard under old plane trees, a new tract lot in a growing suburb, a sloped foothill yard and a builder's pad waiting on final inspection each get a different answer, and sometimes the honest answer is sod, dry seed or a few weeks' wait for cooler weather.

How we work

  • We come out, measure and look at grade, soil, sun and sprinkler coverage before we price anything
  • Estimates are written and itemized: grading, topsoil, seed mix, mulch type, erosion control and cleanup
  • Seed mixes are chosen for the site: cool-season blends for most lawns, warm-season grass for hot, high-traffic ground, and erosion mixes for slopes
  • We schedule around the forecast and spray ahead of rain, not into it
  • On slopes we step up from wood fiber mulch to bonded fiber matrix or blankets when the grade calls for it
  • Silt fence, fiber rolls and inlet protection go in before the first storm on bare construction ground
  • Every customer leaves with a written watering plan matched to the season
